Public Information Request

Banquete Independent School District (BISD) is committed to transparency and compliance with the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA), Texas Government Code, Chapter 552. The information below explains how to submit a request, what to expect after submission, and applicable timelines.

What is a Public Information Request?

A Public Information Request allows members of the public to request access to existing district records. Public information includes documents, emails, reports, and other materials that are created or maintained by the District in connection with official business.

Please note:

  • The District is not required to create new documents in response to a request.

  • Some information may be confidential by law and may be withheld or redacted.

How to Submit a Request

Public Information Requests must be submitted in writing using the form linked below. Requests may be submitted by email or mail.

  • Include relevant dates, names, campuses, or departments, if known

  • Provide your contact information

After you Submit a Request

Once your request is received, the District will:

  1. Review the request for clarity and scope

  2. Contact you if clarification is needed

  3. Determine whether the requested information is subject to disclosure under the law

If the request is unclear or overly broad, the District may seek clarification. Timelines are paused until clarification is received.

Timelines Under the Texas Public Information Act

The District follows all timelines required by law, including:

  • 10 business days from receipt of the request to:

    • Provide the requested information, or

    • Request an Attorney General ruling if the District believes information may be withheld

Prompt production of information once a request is approved and any applicable costs are addressed

Please note:

  • Business days do not include weekends, holidays, or days when the District is officially closed.
  • Large or complex requests may require additional time to compile.
